St Clair, Michigan based Scrapbooking Bed and Breakfast venue Memories Manor has launched an unprecedented web presence for their industry by creating a first class web site with integrated reservations management software and PayPal payment gateway.
Weburban designed the site to reflect the classical heritage of the 1800s mansion with the sophisticated web savvy of their young female clientele. Colors and ques for the web design were drawn on site when the two Weburban principals visited the location.
“We wanted to pair the quaint charm of the town with the elegance and luxury of what the house was intended for — and so far the reaction has been exceptionally positive” says Kristi Marineau, Art Director for Weburban.
The main draw so far has come from local residents. People driving by can’t help but wonder what lies behind the ornate doors and what river views can be seen from the third floor windows. However, the exclusively local draw will soon change with the marketing strategy proposed by Weburban for the first quarter, 2009:
“The demographic drawn to Scrapbooking — young tech savvy females, are the ones driving web sites like YouTube, FaceBook, and MySpace. These social networks provide excellent free spaces for companies like Memories Manor to advertise and provide the kind of two way communication that Web 2.0 has come to represent. Weburban is proud to take Memories Manor into this exciting space that so many other companies have failed to capitalize until very recently” says Rob Newport, President of Weburban.
During initial consultations with Weburban, the owners of Memories Manor were candid about their concern for the kind of return on investment a venture like a Scrapbooking Bed and Breakfast would provide, and whether an enterprise level web site would make a difference to a small company, especially in this economy.
“The economy should present a unique opportunity to cater to St Clair’s closest neighbor — Canada. Being less than an hour away, the Scrapbooking Bed and Breakfast can easily provide high class services at low prices to Canadians holding an unusually strong dollar. In cases where you need to reach customers that are too distant to see your establishment first hand, web sites are not just necessary — they are essential.” says Rob Newport, President of Weburban.
The first half of 2009 can be seen on their live reservations page and with new services and staff being added every day, Memories Manor has proven that good companies thrive even in bad economies.
